Alan Bullard's Christmas cantata 'A light in the stable' (published by Oxford University Press) tells the Christmas story in a mixture of new original settings, and traditional words and music. Here performed by VocalEssence, director Philip Brunelle, with orchestral accompaniment, it can also be performed with piano or chamber orchestra accompaniment. In this performance the optional Bible-pasages in the score are replaced by lovely readings (reader: Katherine Ferrand) from a variety of poets. The clip begins with a short interview with the composer.
